Fly.

ARRIVALS: The last Ferry from Cancun to Isla Mueres leaves Cancun promptly at 10 PM. In order to have time to pass through immigration, get your luggage, go through customs and ride to the ferry, please book a flight to Cancun that arrives before 8:00 PM.

DEPARTURES: When leaving Isla Mujeres to go back to the airport, you need to book a flight with a departure time of 10:00 AM or AFTER. The very first ferry does not depart the island until 7:00 AM. This gives you a 7:20 AM Pick up time with an approximate airport arrival time of 8:00 AM. Thus - a 10:00 AM flight departing the Cancun Airport would be the absolute earliest flight we would recommend, allowing 2 hours for check-in.

Please also note that each flight has its OWN dedicated transfer to the ferry. If you find out your friend is arriving on a flight 30 minutes later, please don’t wait for them - just go. Y’all can connect once you’re settled in paradise!

TIP - Get yourself on our RSVP list. We’ll send out any ridiculous rates we find. We love digging for weird travel deals and sharing them. We also recommend following Thrifty Traveler (no affiliation).

Transfer.

Visit our CARM wedding transfer page for everything you’ll need!

Once you land in Cancun, you will need to make your way through customs (keep that Passport handy!). Don’t sweat it if this takes a bit - you’re on vacation, and you’ll be stepping outside in beautiful Mexico shortly! Also, your CARM transport WON’T LEAVE YOU :)

Once through customs, make your way outside. DO NOT STOP AND TALK TO THE PESKY TIMESHARE PEOPLE. They will beckon you to tables and try to sell you crap. Mo enjoys acting like a crazy person and telling these people that he has wet himself and must carry on.

  1. Get outside.

  2. Feel that sexy sun on your face.

  3. Look for a CARM driver with a sign with your name on it.

TIP - The ride from CUN Airport to the Ultramar Ferry Docks is about 30 minutes. Maybe you should add a couple of Coronas to your ride! Oh and, speaking of “tip,” your driver probably won’t turn one down.

Fun fact - Carm is a wonderful company that gives back to the local community, even donating rides to the local puppy shelter to bring dogs to the airport to be sent off to their new homes.

Ferry.

With a drink in your hand, serene views, live music, Cancun fading away behind and Isla Mujeres growing larger in front as you approach, the 20-minute Ultramar Ferry ride is where it’ll REALLY set in that you are on your way to a rad vacation.

The ferry operates from 7 AM to 10 PM from Puerto Juarez (arriving via your CARM Transfer - they’ll show you the way!).

When you arrive on/at Isla Mujeres, there will be a taxi stand to your left of the ferry dock. A ride to Privilege Aluxes is around $3 USD (or 50 Mexican pesos). The last time we made the trip, we actually walked it. We were so stoked and actually found the walk to be kind of awesome, but we’re weird.

Tip - you can find an Ultramar Ferry schedule right HERE. Remember to feel free to ask the CARM folks questions. They are super neat humans.

Note - if you have your own jet ski parked in Cancun or a private helipad on the island, you are of course welcome to utilize any custom travel itinerary you like! This is YOUR VACATION!
